How We Rescued $100K in Monthly Revenue
Author
When a PPC agency acquired a content marketing firm, they dreamt of becoming the goat of full-service marketing agencies. Instead, the entire content department quit a few months after the acquisition. This is their story.
Problem
A boutique PPC agency was in a high growth stage and were ready to expand their service offerings. So, they acquired a content marketing firm. However, instead of becoming the full-service agency of their dreams, the entire content strategy team found new opportunities elsewhere within a few months.
This put significant strain on other departments as other employees stepped in to fill in the gaps on the content team. It didn’t take long for the agency to learn that this solution could not go on long term. Clients' content quickly fell behind and quality dipped company wide.
At this point, the agency was in danger of losing all of their content clients which was over $100,000 in monthly revenue.

Solution
We were each brought on as full time employees and the first thing we did was audit the existing process. Our findings were bleak but fixable.
We found that after the previous content team left, there was no real process. And it took approximately
4 months to produce a single blog post. So, over the course of about six months, we set out to reduce the lengthy production timeline.
To do this, we first defined the roles we needed to fill. Between the two of us we could handle all content strategies and team oversight. But we still needed a developer who could make technical fixes, writers who could produce high quality long form content and graphic designers who could design landing pages and social posts.
Within three months, we had secured writers and designers and were able to get a developer who was already on the agency’s team.
With the team firmly in place, we set strict, but realistic, deadlines for each step of the production process. This became repeatable month after month for each client.
Results
With these changes, the content team went from a production timeline of four months to produce a single blog post to just one month. The new dedicated team also improved content quality and clients saw significant impacts to their bottom line.
The best part is, every single client renewed their contracts that year. In fact, they were so happy with the content services they were willing to give glowing reviews and case studies. The case studies on the website became high converting content assets which lead the content department to become the most profitable department in the agency.
Aside from the financial benefits, the employees that had been filling in the gaps could now go back to their regular jobs which took significant strain off of other departments.
The PPC agency was now the full service marketing agency they’d always dreamed of.
"Every single client that they worked on for me showed measurable, organic growth month over month. I would pay double just for the peace of mind alone."
